The Empirical Research Of The Platform Construction Of Mobile Library In Colleges And Universities

With the development of network technology such as3G and the popularity of mobile terminals such as smart phone and IPAD, great changes have taken place in ways of reading and resource acquisition, therefore our lifestyle has been influenced by mobile reading unconsciously. At the same time, service mode of library has changed accordingly. To go to the library is no longer the only choice left for reading. Extended service outside become an important part of service for library.After years of construction of resource and network information, libraries, especially those in higher education institutions with finance support, have been well developed as to basic services including traditional resource-based way of lending and retrieve, in the meanwhile, rapid growth occur in network-based service such as smart and personalized service together with information consultation. Thus, how to reach out to readers, who are in need but do not have access to the service, for example, library, Internet and TV, is the direction of the future extended service of library. The development of mobile technology, providing support, makes it possible for library to offer this kind of service. The mobile library, inspired by innovative idea of service of automobile library, with the mobile terminal and access to the library by mobile technology, gains success in no time. At present, mobile library is available in the majority of libraries in America and Korea. Chinese libraries, in particular, libraries in colleges, do not slow down the pace of exploring a unique in practice. Set in the construction of mobile library of X University, this paper, offers a general picture of mobile library at first, analyzes its theoretical research and practical use, introduces the frame, plan, implement and other aspects of platform construction of mobile library in detail, and anticipates the trend of its development in China. And this paper aims to provide reference for the research and practical use of mobile library in China.
