With respect to the author’s investigation in a manufacturing company, engineers and workmen have a great amount of special knowledge, which is used to solve kinds of special problems in each stage of product life cycle. In case the knowledge can be well managed, it is valuable wealth of the enterprise and is important to improve enterprise operation. However, the knowledge management is not satisfactory in reality. For example, the same problem occurs frequently and is repeatedly solved during the product design and process development of types of products, which has negative effects on the control of product development progress and R&D quality. One cause of this situation is the lack of a knowledge exchange platform for employees to communicate with each other and accumulate knowledge. Nowadays the development of computer communication technology provides facilities for construct knowledge exchange platform. Especially, the rise of virtual learning community in1990s, the coming of Web2.0technology, and the user-centered knowledge management are directly support it.Therefore, by combining the Web2.0technology with the concept of virtual learning community, we build a prototype system to support the knowledge exchange and knowledge management between enterprise employees. It will enhance the level of knowledge management within the enterprise.Consequently, the main contributions of this thesis are summarized as follows. The first part is system analysis. Based on the concept of online community, a conceptual model of the community is proposed. Then we carry on the system demand analysis, in which the problems existed in enterprise process design were studied and depicted by system use case analysis diagram. Furthermore, with the explicit supports of Web2.0technology, detailed design of system is completed and showed in functional decomposition diagrams. Thus system function reference model is established. The second part is system design. In this part we elaborate the system design ideas and technology. Then the overall architecture of the system is put forward, which is described by three layer architecture model and system architecture diagram. Following is detailed design of system demonstrated by organizational chart of each module. In addition the system database design is finished. Taking learning blog as an example, we present the entity design, the entity relationship diagram, the table structure design, the correlation between tables diagram, and the implementation code of corresponding data table in SQL Server2005.The third part is system implementation. The system program flow chart and the practical application were displayed in the thesis. Then from the view of designers, we make a detailed instruction of the implemented function in system. Finally we analyze the process of enterprise process design under Web2.0learning community. After the application of the system, most of the problems in the process design are solved quite nicely.
