Under the environment of new media, the information propagation mode is changing and the public is objectively required to have media literacy in a newer and higher level. New media users is not only the audience but also the disseminator; these changes are constantly dispelling and challenging the existing system and the content of media literacy and the connotation of traditional media literacy is also in urgent need of transformation. The new media users in China have not yet technically and mentally prepared for the ecological environment of new media; that is why chaotic phenomena appear frequently on the internet.In this thesis, based on the theory of media literacy and the choice of new media information dissemination model and the characteristics of the users as the research object, I will study the improvement of media literacy of new media users under the development of new science and technology and public voice ecology; discuss the realistic requirements and objects of the improvement of media literacy among new media users, especially in the field of the Microblog application; and put forward the corresponding countermeasures.This thesis consists of five chapters. The first chapter is introduction, mainly introduces the origin of the research, the research background and research methods. The second chapter to the fifth section of Chapter Four is the main body of the thesis. The second chapter summarizes the evolution of the concept of media literacy and current situation of related researches and problems in China. The third chapter, from the perspective of information dissemination characteristics of new media, discusses the characteristics of the propagation of media literacy and the necessary of transformation of media literacy. Chapter Four takes three typical cases of Microblog application for example and analyzes the media literacy of the related users in order to draw basic situation of the basic situation of the current media literacy of Microblog users. The last chapter, based on the analysis and discussion of the improvement of media literacy of Microblog users, puts forward constructive countermeasures for the improvement of media literacy.
