With the increasing popularity of computer technology, the continuousdevelopment of Web servers, people more and more dependent on the Internetto access to knowledge resources, more and more is also high to therequirement of knowledge service. In order to satisfy people’s growingdemand for knowledge, Digital library widely applicate computertechnology to organize, tag, model and query knowledge resources. For thesake of improving the quality of the digital library knowledge service,we have to consider the semantic relations of concepts and keywords, not only stay in the concept, the keyword itself. As a complete and clearknowledge representation, ontology can overcome the defect of traditionalknowledge service model and extend knowledge representation to thesemantic level so as to realize knowledge representation of digitallibrary knowledge resources at the semantic level. Research of this paperaims at bringing ontology thought into knowledge navigation, knowledgeorganization, and knowledge retrieval process of digital library. Thenbuild a knowledge service model of digital library based on ontology soas to help users find knowledge which they need from the vast amounts ofknowledge resources in digital library more efficiently and accurately. The article is divided into six chapters, the contents of the studyare: the first chapter is the introduction, introduced the background, significance, main content, innovation points, research methods andtechnical route of the thesis as well as domestic and foreign researchstatus. The second chapter is related to ontology theory, includingdefinition, classification, function, applications, description language, building principles, tools, methods and other content of ontology. The third chapter is introduced the relevant theory of digital libraryknowledge service model, including meaning, content, characteristics ofdigital library knowledge service and the existing main knowledgeservice models of digital library, the deficiencies and the developmenttendency and so on. The fourth chapter is the construction of knowledgeservice model of digital library based on ontology, including knowledgenavigation, knowledge organization and knowledge retrieval service threeaspects. This chapter discusses knowledge service model of digitallibrary based on ontology build from four aspects: advantage analysis, building principles, model build and key technology analysis. The fifthchapter is case analysis,is about to apply the building knowledge servicemodel of digital library to the knowledge organization, knowledgeretrieval process and knowledge navigation interface in the corn diseasesand insect pests fields, then illustrates the build process and thefeasibility of this model. The sixth chapter is conclusion and prospect, including the summary of this article and pointed out problems existingin the study and some prospects for further research. At present, research on knowledge service of digital library basedon ontology is still in its infancy, and not yet a system theory to guideknowledge service of digital library.Main research result of this paperis to build a knowledge service model of digital library based on ontology, which not only retains the advantages in knowledge organization andknowledge retrieval, but also integrates into the semantic information, realizes the organization and retrieval of knowledge in the semanticlevel, improves the accuracy of the knowledge service. This study is justthe beginning for the research on knowledge service model of digitallibrary, and there are many shortcomings in the process of this study anda lot of follow-up work to do. Believe that this model not only has a goodapplication prospect and can bring significant social and economicIV benefits, but also make the application of ontology play a certain rolein the library and information field and other areas.
