In order to ensure reliable and efficient transmission of the meteorological data, we design a wireless meteorological data communicator to achieve automatic, networking and wireless transmission. The meteorological data communicator consist the main control board, wireless sensor network and3G wireless communications which is charged with the wireless acquisition and process of weather element data, like temperature, humidity, pressure, wind direction, wind speed, etc. It also stores the data to the local database and uploaded them to a remote server. And the wireless sensor network is composed the coordinator and the terminal nodes which has CC2530as the core. Terminal node is responsible for sending the meteorological data, collected from every sensor node of the automatic weather stations, through wireless sensor network to the coordinator, while the coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining wireless sensor network, and sends the valid data, received from terminal node, in the agreed data frame format through the serial ports to the main control board. The main control board selects the Samsung S3C2440microprocessor as the central processing unit which is responsible for receiving, displaying, storing and transmitting the data, received from coordinator; extends SDRAM, Nor Flash and Nand Flash in the periphery to ensure that there is enough space for U-boot, embedded operating system, file system and graphics applications in main control plant; designed with serial, USB interface and network interface for the peripheral communication interfaces; designed with the SD card interface circuit to ensure the storage of large volumes of data. In addition, transplanting U-Boot, embedded Linux operating system, file system, embedded SQLite database and embedded graphics application with Qt in the main control plant. This paper achieves the transfer of the meteorological data processed by the main control plant to the remote server in two different pathways:one is sending through high-speed Ethernet in a cable way, and the other is sending wirelessly over3G.According to the meteorological instrumentation design specifications and actual application requirements, it gives the overall design scheme of the meteorological data communicator, and presents the design of the hardware and software of CC2530and the main control plant in details. The meteorological data communicator reflects the low cost, lower power, and high-performance features of the embedded products, and achieves the automation, wireless and networking in data acquisition of the automatic meteorological data station, which has a good application prospect.
