Embedded Linux BSP Based On S3C2440Processor

With the rapid development of modern science and technology, the intelligentelectronic products have been widely used. Embedded systems have merged intoalmost every field of our life. Most intelligent electronic equipment around us is theapplication of embedded system. The rapid development of embedded systemsstrongly depends on some special techniques, such as the highly integrated SOCtechnology, the combination of hardware and software technology, the excellentdebugging technology and so on.ARM platform is currently used very widely in the mainstream embeddedprocessor architecture. In this article, we selected a special hardware platform namedQuan2440with a S3C2440CPU to make my research. The S3C2440which is made bySAMSUNG Corporation of South Korea is a high performance32-bit embedded CPUbased on ARM920T architecture and it has rich peripheral equipment interfaces. Inaddition, it is particularly suitable for migrating embedded operation system because ofits400MHz main frequency.The main purpose of this artice is studying how to migrate Bootloader and Linuxto the ARM system platform called Quan2440which is based on S3C2440embeddedCPU. In this article, firstly, we introduced the concepts, characteristics and applicationsof the embedded system and the embedded Linux system. Secondly, we analyzed thedeveloping principles and processes of board support package in detail; thirdly, wetalked about the architecture of the core processor S3C2440and the target hardwareplatform. And then, we made much hard developing work, including setting upembedded developing environment, migrating Bootloader and migrating Linux kernel.After a series of developing process, we set up the BSP of our target system. Finally,we completed the whole developing process. By following the methods and techniquesprovided in this article, an embedded Linux developing platform will be convenientlyconstructed, and an embedded Linux system will be conveniently migrated.
