With the rapid development of embedded technology,people are increasing the performancerequirements of the embedded systems. In this high performance requirements, the focus of the study is theembedded boards systems which are based on PowerPC and VxWorks which is embedded systems inrecent years. PowerPC which has high-performance and low-power and VxWorks which has high stabilityand high real time are appearing in a wide variety of more and more embedded products,such as militaryproducts, aerospace equipment, and so on.VxWorks BSP and U-Boot are developed and implemented based on the PowerPC processor’shardware architecture, and porting the VxWorks into this platform is to support signal processing. Afteranalyzing the hardware requirements of the embedded target boards, Firstly U-Boot which is based on thistarget boards is designed and constructed.it initializes the CPU and other onboard hardware, such as PCIdevices, RapidIO switches, North Flash, and so on. And self-test of hardware is designed to ensure that theVxWorks system can successfully be booted. Then serial device driver and network device drivers ofVxWorks BSP are further developed,such as serial device driver can run successfully and the serial portshave output, passing the PING test between the target board on the PC is to ensure the smooth flow of thenetwork. Then the performance test function of the FFT’s computation is also developed on this basicplatform. This function can achieve the validation of the more points FFT’s computation times.and thiscodes are tested in detail,and it analyzes the testing process and conclusions of the FFT calculation.Finallyit verifies the stability and reliability of the embedded system on the whole and reachs the ultimate goal ofthe embedded systems research.
