Laser is a new technology deloped from the1960s and laser has the advantage of thehigh brightness, monochromatic, and the advantages of good direction. Laser machiningtechnology is one of the most promising applications technologies. However the traditionallaser processing technology can not be widely applied to fine processing field, especiallysome valuable materials subtle processing for it often has a lot of slag attached to themachining parts in the process, and the laser energy often makes the machining parts ablationwhich produces heat affected zone and crackle and so on.A cold laser machining technology that uses a bunch of steady stream of laser guidancecarry on the machining, can take away the generated slag and waste gas during the traditionallaser processing with the use of water erosion and cooling effect, so that the machining partsare almost with no heat affected zone and crackle, which leads laser into microfabrication newfields.This paper first analyzes the basic theory for the realizing of the water guiding laser,containing the research on the interaction mechanism of the laser and material, attenuation ofthe laser in the water, influence of factors of water stability, mechanism of water guiding laserand materials, the biggest incident angle of in light that occurred the total reflection.Then with the conclusion of the basis of the theory of both at home and abroadindependently design a complete set of water guiding laser system which contains waterhydraulic system, laser source and optical focus system, CCD real-time monitoring system,coupling system. Through the monitoring by the CCD real-time monitoring system,Thelow-voltage water from hydraulic system and the focus laser from the laser optical systemcoupled into water guided laser in the coupling system.Finally carry out the research of the designed equipment, research the effect by waterpressure and little hole diameter on the stability of water jet, the results show that to onenozzle, the stability of the water jet is large affected by the water pressure; Axes and driftexperiments of laser source laser and laser machining instructions, alignment experiment of coupling laser and polishing nozzle. The experiments of cutting stainless steel were donedifferently with traditional laser and the water guided laser. Contrast analysis showed thesuperiority of water guided laser in micro fabrication field.
