With the rapid developments of network technology, the distributed system technology iswidely applied in automatic control field including network communications, power systems, navigations and distributed objects etc.Time synchronization is the core content for the distributedmeasurement and control area network synchronization, but the existing network timesynchronization protocol has some defects which can not meet the demands for the accuracy. Thepure hardware time synchronization system can not be widely used for its’ expensive price. TheIEEE1588V2.0protocol which we study in this paper can meet the high precision requirement ofdistributed network synchronization.Firstly, Compared to several other clock synchronization, the IEEE1588V2.0clock protocol isbetter for performance in practical application. Then the theory of IEEE1588V2.0clock protocolwhich includes basic synchronization works and the new function is studied and analyzed. In orderto achieve the network clock synchronization error within sub-microsecond, a scheme for networkclock synchronization based on RT-Thread systems is put forward. The hardware circuit of thesystem is designed based on the platform of Cortex-M3and DP83640. The writing and debuggingwork of software including GPS, PTP and the information processing of DP83640on each moduleis done in RT-Thread operating system. Finally, a simple master-slave clock system with two debugging boards is put up. Themeasurement and analysis of accuracy on clock synchronization is done between two debug boards. The error of clock synchronization is approximately25ns which meets the demands forhigh-precision in distributed network clock synchronization. It also validates the feasibility of theprogram.
