High-precision time synchronization technology is increasingly used in many fields of engineering and technology, high precision and accuracy time synchronization technology are used in these fields such as joint operation environment which base on the synchronized data acquisition technology, computer-supported cooperative work environment, the multimedia information synchronization. For distributed network measurement and control system, time synchronization is foundation for the workstations at different locations to work together. Synchronization accuracy is low as the clock difference between devices and network delay of data about measurement and control in distributed measurement and control system and can not achieve the real-time requirements. These issues are the problems inherent in distributed systems and are difficult to be solved or suppressed with existing technology. IEEE1588 protocol appeared in 2002 is the protocol standard specifically applied to distributed network measurement and control system, this standard brings hope for field devices in control network to realize high accuracy and makes IEEE1588 fully used in industrial engineering control areas become possible.In this dissertation, the time synchronization technology applied in the network is highlighted, the traditional time synchronization, NTP time synchronization, IEEE1588 time synchronization standard are introduced, IEEE 1588 standard that with the high accuracy is most suitable for distributed network measurement and control system in each kind of synchronous protocol is demonstrated. In view of these, the key clock synchronization technology and clock synchronization processes and the key algorithm-Best Master Clock algorithm of IEEE 1588 are analyzed in detail, the main program of BMC is accomplished in this dissertation.As IEEE1588 takes up less resources of network and systems, modular applications change less to the original systems, make it has broad application space. The applications of IEEE 1588 in distributed monitoring system for sound and vibration signals are studied in this dissertation. As the implementation of programs are not same and a variety of different factors, the synchronization accuracy of protocol is different, the factors affecting the accuracy of clock synchronization are analyzed separately and the corresponding solutions are given in this dissertation.
