With the progress of society and the rapid development of technology, people’s demands on thequality of life continuously increase, on the premise of the family living environment is safe andcomfortable, people also hope that it can become more intelligent and humanization. Now somesmart home products appear in the market are almost based on wired network, but smart homeproducts need simple and beautiful wiring and flexible expansion capability, therefore, smart homeproducts based on wireless communication technology is the current development trend. Now ashort-range wireless communication technology named ZigBee becomes one of the most suitabletechnology for the application in the wireless network smart home system because it has manyadvantages such as low power consumption, low cost, and large network capacity.ZigBee network is the main part of the system, which used to complete the wireless transceiverand data processing. Firstly this thesis analyzes the characteristics of ZigBee technology, the devicetype, network topology and ZigBee protocol specification. In the hardware design of ZigBee node,this thesis chooses TI’s ZigBee chip CC2530, completes ZigBee RF circuit and peripheral circuitdesign.In the application design section, this thesis put forward the functional requirements and designscheme of a smart home system. On the basis of the Z-Stack, this thesis designs different programfor different node type to achieve ZigBee network communication. And then complete the selectionand design of sensors and controllers, also designed respective program for different sensors andcontrollers. Finally, this thesis complete the test of the ZigBee network functions, reliability, andpower consumption.The application of ZigBee in smart home system, gives it advantages on flexibility, scalability,power consumption, and indoor appearance, and has a high application value.
