Distributed Control System is a computer control system with the feature of decentralized control and centralized management. It is well-known that automatic control technology, computer technology, network technology and human-computer display technologies have been integrated in DCS with high reliability, fully functionality and flexibility, which make it the mainstream of industrial automatic control system. The major function of DCS engineer station software is configuration definition for a specific project application through the configuration software. Nowadays many kinds of DCS are running in field of industrial control, which are provided by different corporations and own their particular configuration environments. In general configuration environment oriented to various DCS engineer stations, the configuration environments of several kinds of DCS engineer station have been integrated into a compatible configuration interface, and the control parameters and algorithms of this platform are completely from the algorithm library of one designated DCS. It supports users to configure, compile, load, run, monitor, modify on line and so on. Meanwhile, the function of this configuration platform has a good sense of reality.Overall structure and design ideas of engineer station configuration environment based on Composer System is introduced in this paper. And an integrated system, which contains a general configuration platform, a function modules defined platform and an OPC client, is designed and implemented by using development tool of C++Builder, object-oriented approach and open architecture design. General configuration platform is used to define and implement configuration logic. Function modules defined platform is used to define the required function modules in accordance with the wishes of the user. OPC client is used to achieve the data exchange between general configuration environment and the DPU of Ovation system. Finally general configuration environment is able to do logical configuration, downloading operation and data monitoring. Currently, the environment has been able to emulate logical configuration of Composer and XDPS, which has a wide range of practical application significance.
