Study The Development Efficiency Of Android Open Source Application Project

In recent years, the Android operating system (OS) development tendency is swift andviolent.This OS is guided by Google and produced through the peer production mode.Its rapiddevelopment has close relationship with open source characteristics. With the Androidoperating system development, various types of Android application software developmentalso got developing flourishingly. At present, the Android application software production isderived from personal or business organizations business project, the two is derived from theInternet community organization of peer production, the latter such as Sourceforge, Codeplex,Google code community. The open source community development and maturity to producehigh quality and sustainable growth ability of the software has special significance.The open source community is a kind of typical non pure profit organization, at present,there is no accepted standard to measure the success of the open source project. In previousresearch, more use of project performance to evaluate the project success degree, and projectdevelopment “efficiency” and the impact of the project is an important factor of performance.This paper selected the Android application project in the Google code Androidcommunity project as the research object, using DEA method, according to the actualcharacteristics of project information, selecting the suitable DEA input and output variables,using the CCR and BCC two kinds of model, measure projects relative efficiency in threedeference groups.At the same time analysis of the items of the inputs and outputs ofredundancy and deficiency and to increase or decrease the number of returns to scale.The conclusion of this study found the community projects, the relative efficiency ofDEA validity of performance are poor, resulting in DEA invalid reasons, primarily becausethe project scale inefficiency, not technical inefficiency. It also reflects the community mostof the projects are the lack of effective guidance and management. The evaluation results canprovide the Android open source community managers to provide reference for reasonableallocation of resources, community managers can use reasonable means to guide theproduction at a constant returns to scale phase, is of great significance to promote the projectperformance. In addition, this study also found that the community projects productiongenerally has the redundancy phenomenon.
