Libraries are the important establishments of colleges and universities to keepteaching and learning materials and scientific researches. The digital library provides asolution for the college to save and share digital resources. However, with thedevelopment of a variety of digital technologies, especially multimedia technology,more and more types of digital resources are emerging, such as image resources, theresources of the three-dimensional model and video resources and the attributes ofdifferent types of digital resources are not the same. How to storage and manage thesedigital resources with different attributes is a key issue of the university digital Library.To solve the problem of the unified storage of digital resources, Cornell Universitystarted the research and development of the Fedora system in1997. Fedora system usedthe digital object model to solve the problem of unified storage properties of differentdigital resources effectively. However, the system still has the two questions:(1) thefunction of the data object creation is not friendly, in addition, the system uses Unicodeas its coding format and it does not support Chinese characters. So,the system is notsuitable to be used for data management of Luzhou Medical College.(2) Differentdigital objects can provide different services according to their own property. However,Fedora system can not provide the necessary services according to different resources.For these two problems, the thesis researches and develops the digital resourcemanagement system based on the Fedora system, combining with the specific digitalresources of Luzhou Medical College. The specific work of this thesis is as follows.First, the thesis studies the architecture of the Fedora system and uses the Fedorasystem as the storage sub-system of the whole system to achieve the unified storage ofdigital resources with different attributes.Next, the thesis designs two single modules. For the first problem of the Fedorasystem, the thesis develops the digital creation module and changes the codes of theFedora system to make the system support Chinese characters. The second module forthe retrieval module which makes the system provide the different service accordingdifferent resources by configuring the XML files.
