Research And Implementation On Z39.50 Data Resources Integration System Of Digital Library

Digital resource integration is an important development direction in resource building of Digital Library. There are several digital resource communication protocol standards in development of Digital Library, in the foreseeable future, which will continue to be used to provide data resources and lead to bring the inconvenience for digital resource integration. It is equally likely that there will be increasing demands from users for unified access and therefore promote the research and development of resource integration technology and various resource integration systems came into being.Z39.50 protocol is the most stringent and complicated standard database communication protocol among existing database communication protocols. After the in-depth study in Z39.50 protocol technology, supported by the Digital Library project built for one university of Hebei province, this thesis gives the model of resource integration system based on Z39.50 protocol. The paper is mainly about the role and implementation of Z39.50 protocol in the overall solution of resource integration platform. Firstly, it presents a brief review of the current development of Z39.50 protocol both in abroad and home, then gives the theoretical analysis to service mechanism, protocol criterion and protocol process of Z39.50 protocol; secondly, it introduces the Web Service and XML technology; thirdly, using the above technologies, it gives resource integration system implementation model based on Z39.50 protocol, as well as the specific design and implementation of Z39.50 client.The realization of this model provides a new way to implement the data resources integration, and achieve the true meaning of the data sharing. Some optimization strategies are given at last as the focus of the next step.
