GPON Communication Software Test Automation Base On QTP Tool

With the fast development of telecommunication enterprise and its production,manual test can’t catch up the rate of development and requirements of versions anylonger. Manual test will cost more and more time to execute the regression test cases.First, due to long time labor-repeated working, the job will cause the tester’s fatigue,and even it will affect the test efficiency and product quality for the version. Second, forthe test method enhance to the agile time, there will be a lot of build and function everyday. All of these show that the black-box test can not improve with the agile workanymore, so that’s the reason why automation was born. After using the automation test,the build’s iteration will be greatly reduced, and more time is saved for the tester toimprove their ability of integration. Beside this, benefit from the parameter is deliveredby computer, automation is more stable and reliable than the manual test. Because thetelecommunication software require the high level basic knowledge, automation becomemore and more popular for the less requirement of telecommunication background.This paper is base on the testing of the Ericsson Entriview software by QTP, afterinput specified parameters and actions; the automation tool will be launched by itself,and then generates the test report automated for the tester. The automation test containsfour functions: auto test case, auto script development, test result analysis and testreport.1. Auto-test case is base on the automation test, Test Cases include case’s name,precondition, implementation steps, post condition, implement parameter verification,implement results of analysis and test report generator. According to scripting theautomation code, tester can build up the test environment and the connection betweenPON OLT devices and ONU devices, and then they can run the automation tool torealize the automation test case.2. Auto-script development, in order to let the tester who does not familiar withcoding can use the automation tool, we develop a TCL frame shell over the QTP script,so they can work on this frame shell to assemble the RA.3. Test result analysis and test report is the key step and the most important standard of the test case execution. We’ve developed a unique report system by QTPand TCL, this report can analysis test steps one by one, and collect them together, sothey can cover the whole automation test.
