Research On The Theory Of GPON And The Norm Establishment Of The GPON Engineering For Guangdong Mobile

As the development of various broadband services such as IPTV, video conference, online games and HDTV, people demand higher bandwidth. As a result, the access equipments are required to have the ability of carrying multi-service based on uniform network and satisfy the increasing requirement of bandwidth. Under this trend, the classical copper access technique such as ADSL can't be competent for this requirement. Fiber-optical, as the best transmission medium so far, makes the optical access network the optimal and long-term development strategy. The introduction of PON system greatly reduce the access time and improve the ability of supplying integrated services, and provide sufficient quality assurance of service meantime. This makes the optical access a technique of profitable and facing multi-service. GPON is one of the most important technique of PON. With the various excellent characteristics, GPON becomes a technique with promising future.This paper firstly gives a detailed introduction of the basic theory and the key techniques of GPON and make a comparative analysis of GPON and EPON, which is another important technique of PON. Then the application mode, the network topology are illustrated. Finally the specification of the design, construction and acceptance of GPON project of China Mobile Group Corporation, Guangdong Limited Co., Ltd are introduced as an example to present the problems demand full attention in the application of GPON.
