ZigBee technology is a new type of wireless communication technology. It has some advantages, such as low cost, low consumption, low rate, high security, and these advantages make it full supported by a lot of manufacturers when it appeared.so it is developing very fast and has been applied in many fields, such as industrial control, communication business, and home automation applications. In practical application, nodes of ZigBee network is commonly use the battery supply power, and many applications can’t replace the battery or simply can’t replace the battery. Therefore, how to use the battery limited energy and try to save battery energy is a very important problem in ZigBee network. Saving energy consumption study of ZigBee network is also a very important research direction.In this paper, we do related research on the ZigBee network energy consumption problems. This paper introduces the characteristics of the ZigBee agreement and the main application fields of ZigBee, such as industrial control, home automation etc application, then introduces ZigBee network node type, topology structure and ZigBee network setting up process. The next detailed introduces Cluster-Tree routing algorithm and AODVjr routing algorithm of ZigBee network layer. We detailed introduced the principle of Cluster-Tree routing algorithm, the address distribution mechanism and routing addressing mode and points out existing problems of Cluster-Tree routing algorithm. This paper gives the improvement of Cluster-Tree routing algorithm, experiment simulation and analysis,the experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is effective.Because the AODVjr ZigBee network routing algorithm is developed from AODV routing algorithm, so the AODV routing algorithm was introduced more before the AODVjr routing algorithm, and then mainly introduced the AODVjr routing algorithm changes relative to AODV routing algorithm and the impact of these changes.Then this paper put forward improved AODVjr routing algorithms based on the original AODVjr routing algorithm of ZigBee network. Because the improved algorithm will use the node energy, so first to introduce briefly the index of energy routing and energy routing in the wireless sensor network. With these groundwork, this paper puts forward the concept of energy threshold, and will use it to protect low enenry nodes in communication process. Finally,we puts forward improvement AODVjr routing algorithm. Because improvement AODVjr routing algorithm consider the radio range and direction of the RREQ control group, so we reduce unnecessary network routing overhead, saving energy. And because of using energy threshold, the network whole work time is prolonged.At the same time,using the network simulation tools-OPNET simulate the improvement AODVjr routing algorithm, and compared the improvement AODVjr routing algorithm with the original AODVjr routing algorithm of ZigBee wireless network. The simulation experiment results prove the improvement AODVjr routing algorithm has a significant role to reduce the overall energy consumption of ZigBee wireless network and extend the life of the whole network.
