Data acquisition and storage system is the key equipment for acquiring digitalsignal and the eauipment with high speed sample rate, large memory depth, smallvolume and high reliability is more and more important, especially in the field of radar, image processing, sonar and telecommunication. In this paper, a design method of the high speed data acquisition and large capacitysolid state storage system is proposed based on analyzing the development, needs andadvanced technology about data acquisition and storage system. The core of the designis high performance A/D and the main architecture of the system is using FPGA tocontrol A/D and FLASH. The FLASH array is used as the storage medium to implementthe mass storage. Then we take great use of the programmability of FPGA to achievethe controller of the system. The pipeline technique is used to solve the problem of realtime data storage and the invalid block management, data validation and redundancy isused to ensure the reliability of data. To ensure signal integrity we finish multilayerlayout based on the principle of the high speed PCB design, and we use independentclock chip to drive A/D and adopt distributed power supply. Because of the flexibility ofUSB, we implement the USB2.0interface to achieve the communication and datatransmission between the system and computer. In order to facilitate the use of thesystem, we design the host software based on MFC to achieve the control of the systemthrough host by users.According to the verification, the proposed method is feasible and the equipmentcan achieve the required function with stable performance. The device can beeffectively used for high speed acquisition and mass storage of radar signal.
