The traditional governmental communication has subject to the estriction of the mode ofthe transmission. The social public is passive to receive government information chiefly, theinformation of the government neither spread to the social public quickly timely andaccurately, nor get timely feedback. Such the communication of government is not good forShaping the image of the government. And the communication of government is not good forconsolidating governmental legitimacy and enhancing the government’s ability.But governmental communication of the new media got rid of the restriction of thetraditional mode of transmission lagely because of the changed mode of communication. Thegovernmental communication of the new mddia greatly improvd speed and strength of thegovernment information transmission by relying on Internet mobile phone media blogsandThree-dimensional dissemination pattern. And the information of the government cancover the audience in a short time. At the same time, the governmental function of thefeedback also increases greatly. The mode of transmission which is pmprovved increase thedegree of convincing the general public.Government communication is an ancient political phenomenon, however, the study onthe government communication is a new project. With the development and improvement ofthe mass media, the government communication is continuous in various ways. In thegovernment administration, it has different natures and positions, as well as various structuresand functions, which has made diversity influences. With the approaching of the new mediaage, the strengthening on the influence of the government communication has unprecedentedopportunities. Furthermore, it also brings new challenges which are different from thetraditional media age. Therefore, the government communication is the important issueconfronted to the government on how to grasp the good opportunities and seek the newchallenges, how to complete the government communication and increase the effect of thegovernment communication in order to strengthen the influence, authority and legality of thegovernment.This consists of four chapters. Chapter One mainly discusses the concept of new mediaand the new media age, highlighting what is new media, the new media age and the characteristics of new media age, which clarifies the social background of the governmentcommunication.Chapter Two mainly discusses the nature and position of the government communicationin the new media. This paper holds the government communication in the new media agetakes the new media centralized on the internet as major carrier to carry on the informationtransmission. The nature of the government communication is the main difference of the newand the traditional government communication, which is also the important starting point onthe recognition of the new government communication. In the new media age the governmentcommunication plays significant role in the government communication, which is theimportant foundation on the successful development of the government communication.Without the smooth government communication, the government can not publicize itsinformation immediately, can not get the timely interaction with the public, acquire thegovernment information feedback and grasp the constantly changing social tendency. Withoutthe smooth government communication, the government, the government can not take thediscursive power in the international arena, which pays special attention to the informationtransmission, and actively publicize the foreign policy of China in order to create the goodsituation of economic and social development. Therefore, the government communication inthe new media age takes on an essential role in the administration of the government.Chapter Three focuses on the structure and function of the government communicationin the new age. In the new media age, the structure of government communication takestremendous changes, in terms of communication subject, channel, content, and object whichare different from the traditional media age. Meanwhile, the function of governmentcommunication is incomparable with the traditional media age. In the new media age, thegovernment communication can better disseminate the public information, and set the agenda.The government communication can create better image of the government to improve theprogress of democratic politics. In addition, government communication can efficientlyimplement the political supervision in order to build the harmony society.Chapter Four concentrates on the influence and the development of the governmentcommunication in the new media age. In the new media age, the government communicationhas different influences. Under the assistance of the new media, the governmentcommunication to the government is like the nerve to the artery, where the governmentcommunication can make everyone feel trend of the government. Therefore, the government communication in new media age can greatly increase the effect of communication andstrengthen the interaction between the government and the public in the society in order toimprove the government recognition and identification. Due to the great influence thegovernment communication to the public, special attention is paid to the spread developmentof the government communication in the new media age, including the development ofdissemination subject, channel, content, object, etc.All in all, the government communication in the new age has achieved great progress intheory and practice, however, there still exist some problems for the government andresearchers to make further research.
