Government official image is a microcosm of the image of the government and it is getting more and more attention from people. The Academy of Social Sciences Blue Book “Report on Image Crisis Response” released in 2014 stated that the crisis of government official image was “diversified and high-increased”,which seriously impaired the credibility of officials and the government. The image of government officials presented to the public is mainly spread through the mass media.Establishing a good media image has become a new topic for officials in the age of electronic media.Governmental affairs enquiry on TV has been launched around the world to provide accountability for politicians and change the work style of officials.Such programs are devoted to exposing deficiencies in the work of government departments and exposing the work style of officials. In particular, programs on accountability for governmental affairs enquiry, which not only exposed the negative aspects of officials, but also used “torture” methods to let officials to “sweat” and “get ugly”,which brought enormous challenges to the image of officials. The formation of the media image of officials is influenced by the content of the media, and is derived from the objective image of the official himself.Accountability-oriented political programs on the one hand have constructed and disseminated the contents of official images. On the other hand, the programs have also greatly influenced the behavior of officials. However, existing studies rarely mention how official behavior is affected.Media situation theory believes that changes in the media will inevitably lead to changes in social scenes, which will lead to changes in people's social behavior. This argument provides a new perspective for studying how accountability-based governmental affairs enquiry programs affect official behavior and influence the presentation of official images. This research mainly uses two research methods: literature research and case analysis.Based on Merowitz's media situation theory, combined with Goffman's theory of dramatization,it observes some of the most influential accountability-type political programs and analyzes what kind of media scene they have constructed and how the official image has been presented through this scene, and then the media and officials should be asked to make adjustments and changes..This study proposes that accountability-based political programs construct a brand new fusion scenario.Officials' performances in front of the stage and the reality behind the stage together form the image of officials. The new scene has an impact on officials' behavior, which also made a new presentation for official images. The first chapter of the thesis is an introduction. It mainly introduces the research background, purpose, method, innovation and the review of related literature. The second chapter analyzes the main ideas of media situation theory and pseudo-drama theory and their connections with this research.Chapters 3 and 4 analyze the "performance" behavior of the officials on the media and the realistic image of passive exposure from the front and the back of the stage.Chapter 5 puts forward the media reconstruction of the scenario, that is,the accountability-oriented governmental affairs enquiry programs have created a brand new fusion scene before and after the opening of the official stage. The impact of the new scenario on officials and program content is related to the final presentation of the official image. The sixth chapter proposes suggestions for the benign development of accountability-type political programs and government official image based on the previous analysis.
