The barcode positioning system is a new measurement and positioning system, whichevolves from the large-scale logistics conveyer system. It is a breakthrough of the traditionalpositioning system. At present, the researches on barcode positioning system are as follows:The international research achievements are applied to products. Due to the patent reasons,the published research documents can hardly be available. The domestic researches havemade little effort and no breakthrough of some key technologies, which is responsible for thedomestic blank record of independent patent products. Under these circumstances, we studysystematically the related technology of barcode positioning system.The barcode positioning technology mainly involves two aspects: shift barcode andbarcode image recognition. So this paper focuses on the two aspects and the main works areas follows:1. Based on shift sequence code, a novel encoding method is applied to barcodepositioning system by comparing varieties of encoding principles domestically and abroad, aswell as having a systematic research on its encoding rules and positioning mechanism.2. Barcode recognition is the process that acquires image information and gets thebarcode information through decoding. This paper introduces the process of the barcoderecognition from image acquisition, image preprocessing, positioning barcode and decoding,which has a key research on histogram adjustment, median filtering method and improvedOTSU method. Finally, concerning the problems of recognizing barcode using imageprocessing method, an algorithm is proposed to localize barcode through extracting edgelines.The experimental results show that the feasibility of shift sequence code, as well assupporting the reliability of positioning algorithm that is relevant to the shift sequence code.In this thesis, the mechanism research and practice application of barcode positioningtechnology are of theoretical and experimental importance for the domestic development ofbarcode positioning system.
