Direct digital frequency synthesizer (DDFS) is key digital technology. It is usedwidely in communication field. It can produce the needs of the various frequencywaveforms, high frequency, quickly turned time, and low cost. But the traditionaldirect digital frequency synthesizer used look-up table. So it could not meet thedemand of higher precision because a lot of packet on hardware could not design andit is high power consumption, large hardware and low speed. It cannot meet therequirement of high speed digital design now.To solve these problems, this paper design new algorithm and combined withcoordinate rotation computer structure which can directly do triangle function todesign a kind of direct digital frequency synthesizer based on CORDIC. It containsphase accumulators, radian converter, cosine generator, output converter and specialmultiplier. In the design process we use Matlab language to design algorithm. Itverified algorithm mainly. It used verilog to design hardware with FPGA. It canoutput16bits cosine/sine wave and. It contains614registers with250MHZfrequency. The SFDR is-87dBc used with Matlab.The results show that the direct digital frequency synthesizer can save a lot ofmemory, faster speed compared with traditional direct digital frequency synthesizer.It improves algorithm and hardware. It solve traditional direct digital frequencysynthesizer which is large area and low speed.
