As a kind of new emerging technology, the Internet of Things(IoT) has experienced rapiddevelopment from its first appearance to now. More and more people begin to pay close attention tothe Internet of Things. Two main technologies of IoT are WSN (wireless sensor networks) andRFID (radio frequency identification technology), they lay a foundation for people to use IoT tomake its intelligent monitoring and remote intelligent identification. Through the abovetechnologies, IoT combines the Internet (Internet), equipments and people together.The scientific concept of development requires if we want to build a harmonious socialistsociety, our country must adhere to the major national policy of improving the energy conservationand emission reduction. The specific implement key is to save social resources, reduce theemissions of invalid energy consumption. Through IoT, we can connect very small intelligentequipments and personal computers to all kinds of networks effectively. Thus, no matter when andwhere, anyone can enjoy high quality of information service. Through the intelligent expert system,people can know the items’ state information timely and effectively and make timely decisions,which can achieve the effect of energy saving and emission reduction.On the other hand, with the current transportation system more and more complicated, thetraditional traffic management based on empirical mode already can not adapt to the rapiddevelopment of traffic. Accurate, fast and intelligent traffic management is becoming more andmore important and urgent. Introduction of high-tech to control the traffic becomes urgent andneeded. So because of the appearance of IoT, we can use the related technologies to realizeintelligent identification and management to solve or alleviate the social contradiction.Because intelligent energy-saving system and intelligent transportation system are theindispensable typical applications in people’s common life, so it is particularly important to applyIoT to the two typical scene. So we can promote the development of related industrial chain bystudying and realizing intelligent energy-saving system and intelligent transportation system basedon IoT. We can also promote the rapid development of the harmonious society by this.In this paper, we carry on the investigation of intelligent energy-saving and intelligent trafficbased on IoT, and put forward an intelligent energy-saving prototype system. And at the same time,according to the two core problems of traffic, we make some researches about two coretechnologies. This article first introduces the research background, and then raises the outline of IoT, intelligent energy-saving system and intelligent transportation system. Then from the systemstructure, hardware design, software design and test result analysis four aspects we introduced coretechnologies and the design of the prototype system of intelligent energy-saving system based onIoT. Then two techniques of the intelligent transportation are studied: intelligent vehicle statisticssystem and intelligent traffic assistant system. And respectively from the hardware design, softwaredesign and test result we analyse it in detail. Finally, we summarize the content of the intelligentenergy-saving system and intelligent transportation system based on IoT which are proposed in thispaper. We make a summary about some problems and put forward the improvement measures. Lastwe formulate the work plan.
