With the continuous development of information technology, networking applications inembedded systems gets more and more popular. The IP network and its applications are in theperiod of transition from IPv4to IPv6in recent years. As IPv6was not backward compatible IPv4network applications can not be directly deployed to IPv6environment. In addition, the networkconfiguration of IPv6-based embedded systems gets more complicated because of the mobility, distributed and large-scale deployment of IPv6networks and embedded systems,.This thesis researches the key technologies of autonomic IP networking for embedded systems. To overcome the problem that IPv4-based application can not directly deployed to IPv6environment, an IPv6-based video transmission scheme is designed and implemented in this thesisunder the background of video transmission application. Firstly, the differences between IPv4andIPv6socket programming interfaces are analyzed. Secondly, the network protocol is transformed inunderlying communication module and upper streaming protocolmodule on the basis of theopensource media framework Live555. A streaming media player is designed for testing the scheme. Finally, a general principle of trasition from IPv4to IPv6application is proposed. In order toovercome the complexity of network configuration in IPv6networks, an embedded DHCPv6clientis designed and implemented by comparing the differences and similarities of DHCP and DHCPv6,and the self-adaptability of DHCPv6and DHCP is implemented in this thesis. The functions of the above scheme are tested in this thesis. The results show that the videotransport application runs in IPv6environment normally which achieves a smooth transition of IPv4to IPv6network applications. The DHCPv6client can provide the basic functions like IPv6addressauto-configuration and lease renewal, the packet interactions are in conformance with DHCPv6protocol specification, and the process of self-adaptability between DHCP and DHCPv6satisfiesthe system requirements.
