Now, we use the protocol IPv4. But Nowadays Internet is growing quickly. So, the next generation IP protocol was brought up in 1992. A new capability is added to enable the labeling of packets belonging to particular traffic "flows" for which the sender requests special handling, such as non-default quality of service or "real-time" service. The technology of stream media provides end-to-end delivery services in IP network with real-time characteristics, such as interactive audio and video. Applications typically run RTP/RTCP protocol on top of UDP. It is one of the focus researches, especially in IPv6. This article illustrates the framework of stream media in IPv4; include the basic theory and disadvantage. It is emphasis the important of time factor for QoS; and introduction the improvement of behavior in IPv6, especially in real time network. It introduce the applications of label exchange in IPv4 networks, such as MPLS; and researches the improvement of the related protocol based on the "real-time" service; specially the "flow"application in IPv6 networks.
