In 2003, JVT (Joint Video Team) formally proposes a new generation of video compression standard H.264/AVC. H.264/AVC is a new generation of digital video compression format after MPEG4. it not only retains the advantages of the past compression technology, but also has a lot lot of advantages that others don't have, such as very low bit rate, high compression ratio, high-quality images, highly fault-tolerant capability, More powerful network adaptability. these advantages make H.264 to develop rapidly in lots of applications.At present, H.264 has been applied in streaming media services. Streaming media services divide into Video On Demand services and Broadcasting services . In general, traditional Broadcasting is based on the IP layer multicast technology. Traditional Broadcasting services for the implementation of real-time H.264 video playback, in the multicast tree outside the framework of play, pause radio, remote storage, etc. you need to solve problems:①Transmission, buffering and analysis of H.264 network data;②Analysis of some audio and video file formats;To resolve the problems above, the 8010 lab of UESTC has developed the Streaming-Media Source Processor(SMSP) and MP4 Streaming-Media Player(MP4SMP).In addition SMSP and MP4SMP can support many audio and video formats. And audio and video formats supported is scalable. Firstly, the dissertation introduces the content of the H.264/AVC's"Network Friendliness"technology, the emphases of H.264 standard in the dissertation consists of the Parameter Setconcept, NAL and packaging.Secondly, the dissertation analyzes the MP4 file format, and implements the main data structure of the MP4 file format;Thirdly, the dissertation introduces the design of SMSP, and the highlights on implementation and key algorithm of H.264 real-time recording capabilities;And then the dissertation introduces the overall architecture of SMSP, highlighting on the implementation of how to support H.264. Finally the functional testing of system is introduced, and the dissertation compares H.264 with MPEG-4 in two aspects of subjective vision and broadcast quality in Network.In short, the introduction of the dissertation are typical application of H.264 in network streaming media. H.264 real-time recording capabilities of SMSP can receive the multicasting data of H.264 and store it into a standard MP4 file. What's more, it can store the data in interleaved way. This is more applicable to real-time streaming audio and video storage into MP4 files. At the same time, the dissertation proposes a set of better solutions to support H.264 network video streaming for MP4SMP.
