In most medium-sized thermal power plant operation and management system, real time data acquisition, transmission, storage and management are key issues of medium-sized thermal power plant operation and management. The diversity of data formats are not uniform and the signal of non-standardization. Such problems are also widespread in the small and medium-sized chemical and other process control industry. These obstacles have hindered the operation and management of real-time access to data from the device. Methods to solve such problems were powered by a variety of different forms of equipment and instrumentation. Therefore, the development of a kind of application for multi-format, multi-protocol, multi-type data acquisition gateway has very important significance. It solves the problems of data harmonization and SME information of many medium-sized thermal power plants.Real time data acquisition, transmission, storage and management are key issues of medium-sized thermal power plant operation and management. To solve these problems, combining with the actual needs of medium-sized thermal power plant, we developed the data acquisition gateway, The data acquisition gateway uses ST’s new, ARM-CortexM3core and cost-effective32embedded processor STM32F103VC as hardware control core. This system has the RS-485and CAN bus interface. It can communicate real-time with scene of the instruments and equipment. It has isolated8analog input channels,2analog output channels and the isolation of8digital input/output channels, realizing the signal acquisition and control functions. Ethernet and GPRS wireless communicati-on is used to the remote network to upload data, improving the adaptability of the gateway. The Modbus RTU protocol is commonly used in the RS-485serial bus. The Modbus TCP protocol is commonly used in industrial Ethernet. Interchangeable between the two protocols are analyzed and designed in this article to solve the interconnection between the bottom of the device and upper management system and communication problems.This article describes the overall design philosophy, the embedded hardware implementations and the software design of data acquisition gateway. Interchangeable between the two protocols are analyzed and designed in this article. The main function modules for the hardwares and softwares of data acquisition gateway are design and implemented. Finally, the typical application cases of the data acquisition gateway in medium-sized thermal power plant are given, reflecting the value of the product. The data acquisition gateway has completed large numbers of field experiments to improve product design. It has been successfully applied and extended to other similar industries. It is obtained and recognized by users and peer.
