In the automation field, there are a variety of automation equipments used in different fieldbus. Their manufacturers, types, specifications and performances are different, especially the coexistence of a variety of fieldbus standards which makes the communication among fieldbus devices much more difficult..In this situation, we need a unified communication platform through which we can integrate field devices of different fieldbus into a control system and achieve interoperability. Then the debugging, confuguration, diagnostics and unified management can be done to them with different kinds of protocols on the communication platform.First’of all, this paper introduces the solutions to the fieldbus communication problems at home and abroad in detail, compare and analys the advantages and disadvantages of diffrent solutions. Then it describes the present situation, characteristics and trend of development, and introduces the level of communication, the model and all kinds of standard buses agreement. In this paper, according to the present situation of the fieldbus communication, combines with its characteristics, we use the twisted pair to realize the physical connection, and provide display and stand management interface to mobile application engineer with a FDT frame application, and through the USB port connectting communication equipment to connect to PROFIBUS fieldbus, we make full use of the intelligent interoperability channel provided by quipments to achieve unified fieldbus communication platform, and verifies the functions such as the parameters set, and analysed the limiting factors and put forward the direction of further work at last.In the process industry field such as electric power enterprises with intensive production equipments, the platform first can realize the remote configuration and setting operation to optimize the workflow of the equipment management,. Secondly, the platform can locate failure point rapidly, so the equipment maintenance and production downtime can be reduced. Thirdly, the equipment fault prediction can be done by this platform. It will make the maintenance personnel repair or replace equipments timely and make the limited maintenance funds used to places where they arc needed most.
