The modern warfare has greatly increased the requirements on the mobility of the radar and other military equipment. High-mobility vehicle mounted radar must be able to be quickly set up and dismantled. This paper studied the actual requirement of high-speed leveling on vehicular radar. The radar hydraulic leveling system has been designed and implemented based on PLC. This paper implemented a hydraulic system design, the hardware design of control system, the leveling algorithm and the experiment test, etc.This paper consults and analysis the advanced hydraulic leveling system, considering the actual radar system, a platform mechanical model is established, hydraulic drive and four rigid supports system architecture is adopted, a scheme of hydraulic leveling system hardware design is proposed and the selection of devices is finished.This paper focuses on the leveling strategies of the leveling control system. Several leveling strategies have been compared and finally this paper proposes a leveling method, which maintains the highest Point not moving, is named as "angle based segmented chase leveling algorithm". Leveling process stability and accuracy are calculated and analyzed. Moreover, this paper proposed a solution to handle the "virtual leg" problem. This paper selects Siemens PLC as the control unit of the leveling system, and implements the leveling control algorithm based on vehicular radar platform.Extensive experiments have demonstrated the effective of the proposed hydraulic leveling system. The hydraulic leveling system proposed by this paper is able to achieve leveling accuracy less than2’with the time of leveling within2minutes. Hence the hydraulic leveling system proposed by this paper is a high accuracy, high reliability system. Finally, according to the results of the experiments, we conclude the disadvantage of this and system, and proposed some solution to handle these disadvantages.
