High performance Network Over Coax (HINOC) is a new access technology of broadband access network using the out-of-band channel of Community Antenna TV (CATV) coaxial cable to provide users with high-speed and high-quality multi-services. HINOC technology works on the coaxial cable channel band above860MHz, and makes full use of existing network of the CATV coaxial cable to provide high-speed and high-quality access for multi-services, such as voice, IPTV, SDTV/HDTV and Internet service, only by adding the devices of HM (HINOC Modem) and HB (HINOC Bridge) without changing the current wired line. HINOC technology will eliminate the bandwidth bottlenecks of broadband access network and accelerate the process of network convergence. With the project undertaken in our laboratory-"Research On Technology of High Performance Network Over Coax(HINOC)", this thesis introduces the architecture of HINOC network, analyses the working principles of terminal HB and modem device HM, studies the framework and development process of Linux driver. and determines the system design based on the PXA270platform. According to the system design, hardware and software functions are divided, the definition of interface is confirmed, and the sub-modules of interrupt handling and insertion/capture are realized based on Linux cross-development environment. Through the cooperation with FPGA, the functions of receiving and sending HIMAC frames are normally achieved. The actual test results show the design of the driver in the thesis work with the FPGA hardware well, meeting the design requirements.
