Radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is a contactless automatic identification technology. It is regarded as one of the ten most important technologies of the 21th century and all countries in the world are making effort to advance the application of RFID technology continuously. RFID technology has broad prospects in applications of access control, retail, logistics and automatic charging. Due to the underdevelopment of technology, the applications of RFID systems on high frequency band and high frequency (HF) band, such as the bus card and access badge in 13.56MHz, is more popular than the ultra-high frequency (UHF) RFID systems. There are many problems calling for solutions in UHF RFID.The conformance testing system of UHF RFID introduced in the paper is developed with virtual instrument technology and complies with the standard of conformance testing of ISO and EPCglobal. The system is built up with reasonable structure, accurate measurement, considerable testing speed, and can meet the testing requirements of production line and national certifications.The reading range measurement of UHF RFID in GTEM cell in this paper presents a much cheaper testing approach using GTEM cell to replace anechoic chamber. And the method can provide references for the testing of UHF RFID in GTEM cell.The directivity test of UHF RFID tags and its testing system in this paper present the high efficiency of virtual instruments, and provide a demo for the particular test requirement in RFID. The method have significance on the development of RFID testing and verification.
