Video capture technology is widely used in the region of digital image processing and image identification. There are many kinds of video capture card and of powerful function on the market. In this thesis, an embedded video capture card based on the main-subordinate processor architecture of FPGA and MCU is designed. It is characterized in convenient second development and simple upgrade of hardware and software.This paper starts with three kinds of radio and TV formats, based on the USB2.0agreement’s support of the high-speed data transmission and the control flexibility with FPGA, gives out the design solution of video capture system, and completes the drawing of the schematic, the placement and routing of the PCB, the printing and welding of the circuit board etc. Then we put emphasis on the development of firmware program and PC program, include the design idea, program algorithm, software and hardware debugging, download verification and other aspects’ introduction in details. At the end of this paper, the experiment result’s analysis has been provided and some possible improvement methods have been proposed.The embedded video capture card is realized in this topic, and can achieve a real-time video capture and show. It is small, easy to upgrade, and can be applied to these instruments which output standard analog video, such as thermal infrared imager.
