CAN (Control Area Network) bus is widely used in industrial control field. In thedevelopment of technology, it is essential for studying intelligent node and networkreliability. Intelligent node is the basis for the study. In this paper, a data acquisitionmodule which is based on the high speed chip C8051F550is designed, then itshardware configuration and software flow are expounded.the result of the test showsthat the module can stable after a long time work. Network reliability is a key factoraffecting the performance of CAN. Master-slave communication mode based on athree-node network is designed in this paper.three important factor affecting theperformance network is analysised.This conclusion plays a key role in the practicalapplication.Designing of intelligent nodes is to carry out research work in this paper. Maintask is followed:Firstly, this study introduces the purpose and research significance, then describesthe development of CAN technology status and trends and summarizes the main’sfoucs.Secondly, CAN bus protocol and functions are fully analyzed, which includepacket transmission, non-destructive arbitration, error handing and so on.Thirdly, theprinciples of hardware are introduced. To meet the demand of industrial field, the paperpresent the design that in the front end of signal acqusisiton circuit, the signalconditioning cricuit are add. Fourthly, the principles of software are introduced.Sent-received message and interrupt flow chart are designed. Designing themaster-slave mode is to verify the performance of filter and transceiver.Finally, fromanalysising the fuction of the bus topology, such as bus/ring network,it is drawed thatring bus has more reliability than bus network.Through analysising this paper, the design of intelligent nodes that includedhardware design and software implementation is concluded.the solution to the problemdepends on the signal processing circuits based on microcontrollers and CANcommunication software.
