The Reliability Of Computer Systems Research

This paper has studied the reliability of computer system in computer hardware and computer software. The main research work of this paper may divide into three parts: the first part is about computer system reliability model. The second part is the theoretically research of the designs which are used to improve the reliability of computer system. The third part discussed the reliability analysis and design in a real computer application system. The detail results are shown as follow:1. Upon the basis of comparison with various hardware reliability models and software reliability models, we present a combined hardware/software reliability model of computer system. This model based on the characteristic of computer system, researches the reliability of computer system with hardware reliability and software reliability in one model. To compare with the other models that discuss the reliability of computer system in two separate parts: hardware and software, this model can describe the reliability of computer system more exactly.2. The prevailing designs that are used to improve the reliability of computer system are discussed. In order to understand these designs more exactly and help to make a right decision in real application we analysis these designs with mathematic theories. To make a best design is more difficult than to make an available design. I suppose the effective way to salve the problem is to fond out the mathematic models of different designs.3. Discussing the system reliability in the real application is the best way to apply pure theories to the practice. Upon the basis of comparison with various methods to improve the reliability of computer system, this paper discussed how to make a choice when we design each part of the computer system. This try that using the theories to salve the actual problem is helpful for the application of the computer system reliability theories.
