Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) is an information system oriented toworkshop’s management, which bridges a connection bridge between the EnterpriseResource Plan (ERP) layer and shop floor control system. Its core role is to help theproduction workshop optimize the scheduling reasonably. But with the continuouslychanging of market requirement, the external environment of the production systemhas also undergone a huge change, and multiple variety and small batch becomes themain trend of production model, which leads to the traditional MES system can nolonger meet the demand.In order to resolve the practical production problem in some aerospace enterprise,a pull production MES system framework based on Kanban management is proposed.The core of the framework is the study of task scheduling in plan scheduling layer andthe Kanban management in implementation layer. This framework is suited for the"multiple variety and small batch” production environment.The main research work as following:Firstly, through the mathematical modeling of task scheduling, a task schedulingmodel is proposed based on task load balance. This model uses complexity factor ofsingle task and task queue length to calculate the personnel or equipment’s taskcomplexity. The model will give priority to dispatch task to those task complexity islow. When the task complexity is equal, those task queue length is shorter have highpriority. Secondly, the two types of messaging model of message oriented middleware areanalyzed. To meet the data real-time requirements, Kanban system will usepublish/subscribe model in message transmission. Production information fromheterogeneous systems will be published and Kanban system only needs to subscribethis production data information and get it in real time by heterogeneous dataintegration approach. Kanban will display this integrated information.Thirdly, in consideration of all tasks in each department are associated with theBOM, which has become an important information link between design departmentsand manufacturing department. An approach of heterogeneous data integration basedon BOM is proposed. Kanban management can be implemented by heterogeneousdata integration approach and push notification technology.Finally, on the above research, the actual business requirement of some aerospaceenterprise is analyzed and a pull-oriented prototype MES system is designed based onthis requirement. The prototype system uses component-oriented method to developon Primeton platform. The feasibility of the pull-oriented MES system framework isverified by the functional modules of the prototype system.
