With the continuous improvement of the transmission line voltage level, the distribution ofthe transmission network is more extensive and more complex and the safe operation of thetransmission line is particularly prominent. Charged before operation of the overheadtransmission line, the electrical safety distance measurement is needed. Line maintenancepersonnel overhaul accounting to enter the electrical safety of the equipotential distancetransmission line conductor curve shape will affect the live line maintenance personnel operatingin the body electrical conductor distance. Line inspection to determine the line an importantindicator of the normal operation of the overhead transmission line conductor sag, Icing willaffect the shape of the curve of the wire. We demand the the Icing state curve model. Imageprocessing method, combined with the overhead transmission line catenary model equations, togenerate a different line model in the ice cover conditions, in particular non-uniformtransmission line model Icing conditions. This plays an important role model for the safety ofoverhead transmission lines for live working distance measurement and judgment line forcestatus, used to guide the production and take preventive measures.This paper studies the mechanism of ice and image processing technology, different types ofice cover density and its cross-section shape are not all the same, meanwhile, differentalgorithms of image filtering will lead to different effects. The shape of power line with uniformload of isolated-span is studied. In this article, catenary equation and parabolic equation ofoverhead power lines are deduced, physical state equilibrium equations of overhead power lineswith non-uniformly distributed load is investigated. As overhead power lines with ice belong tothe uniform load model, in order to facilitate the calculation, overhead power lines with ice areoften simplified to uniform model in practice.The characteristics of lines in images is studied, by comparison with the actual imagefactors and the experimental results, we concluded that median filter and canny operator areappropriate for edge detection and smoothing filter. Pixels that generated by edge detection aretranslated into actual thickness and corrected to suitable results at the last.The catenary equation and parabolic equation and its applicable scope is researched, icethickness of line is obtained by image processing. Simulation is implemented to pensile pointequal altitude and unequal altitude of uniform state by using catenary equation. The resultindicates that uses image edge detection to obtain several points of overhead power lines andconvert them to vertical load, then calculates the coordinate of those points by catenary equation.Based on quadratic multinomial, the fitting curve can recover the line curve accurately.
