The Large plasma research device (LAPD) is mainly used to study space plasmamovement, usually large-scale linear plasma device.The Heater Supply of The LAPD hasused to produce a uniform discharge,which is to use an indirectly heated cathode.Traditionally, The Heater Supply of The LAPD has used the circuit of diode rectifierplus voltage regulator to indirectly heat cathode.Based on the working principle of TheHeater Supply of The LAPD and improved the original circuit, The Heater Supply isdesigned, which is used the thyristor controlled rectifier circuit as the main circuit. It canachieve100V/100A typical voltage and current in10kW/1Ω false load. It can regulationcurrent within a certain range and it can monitor of system operation in real-time.This paperis analyzed the working principle of The Heater Supply of The LAPD to determine ascheme of The Heater Supply System. Then it is analyzed and calculated the main circuit ofThe System to determine the primary circuit topology, the transformer turns ratio andwinding connections, thyristor model, protection devices, etc. It is provided a theoretical forthe design of The Heater Supply System.The Heater Supply System is used the TI chip of F2812DSP. It combined with thecurrent sensor of CHB-200S and the trigger circuit board of FCOG630D to design thecontrol system of The Heater Supply. It used the digital PI control to achieve a stableoutput voltage and current, and it is instructed the program flow of the system.In addition,it used the graphical programming language of LabVIEW8.6to design PC interface,whichis used to analysis and description data.Based on MATLAB7.0,it is simulated the main circuit of the system and controlstrategies, and analyzed results.The feasibility of The proposed program and controlstrategy are verified. It is contributed to design The Heater Supply System.Finally, the development of The Heater Supply System is tested,and the paper is giventhe experimental site conditions. Experimental results show that The Heater Supply Systemcan achieve100V/100A typical voltage and current and can regulation the current by thecurrent feedback control.It also can detection the output voltage and current values of thesystem.
