The third generation mobile communication technology becomes the most important technology in the field of mobile communication in recent years,it is used widely with the development of the technology.and the 3G core network is the key technology of the 3G mobile communication network absolutely.The Signalling System PRI is widely used in all kinds of telecom switch systems. The LAPD protocol is the second layer protocol in the Signalling System PRI. This protocol is mainly used to provide a signalling for reliable transfer of siganlling message between user and network. The LAPD protocol provides the channels for the upper lever application of the Signalling System.The MPC8260 is a high powered communications CPU, integrated with many communications peripheral controllers that can be used in many applications. The MCC interface of MPC8260 can provide the HDLC channesl with the speed of N*64K bps. The RTOS of VXWORKS is widely used in many fields for the excellent multitask control ability. Based on the MPC8260 together with the RTOS of VXWOKS. the embedded system can provide more credibility implementation of the data link protocol for the signalling system.This thesis firstly explains the main technical characteristics of the 3GCN system, introduces the structure of the core network. And then introduces the hardware platform, the embedded system of VXWORKS .This thesis introduces the LAPD protocol and provides a whole design of the implementation of LAPD protocol based on the hardware platform of MPC8260 and the RTOS VXWORKS,this makes the implementation of LAPD protocol more reliable.
