At present, the radar equipment is developing rapidly,so the research and development of real time processing system for radar signal is significant and strategic to China’s upgrading of radar equipment. According to the relevant research results of variable cycle LFMCW radar and combined with the actual needs of ballistic radar system for XXX weapon, the paper designs and realizes a real time radar signal processing system based on embedded technology. In order to identify multiple projectiles in a XXX weapon shooting, the radar signal processing uses the intersection pairing approximation in this paper, that is a method for multi-target recognition using variable cycle LFMCW radar. The radar receiver only needs to process signal of one cycle (including 3 FM cycle) to calculate the radial distance and velocity of multi-target. This is consistent with the real time signal processing required in the system. In the implementation, according to the general requirements of the system, this paper puts forward a realizing solution of radar real time signal processing system using the FPGA digital signal processing technology combined with embedded ARM technology. Then the paper completes the development and debugging of signal sampling and processing board based on FPGA chip, the production of the LFMCW signal and the calculation of the digital signal power spectrum based on FPGA, the build of development environment for embedded Linux systems, the development of interface driver for FPGA and the ARM11,the design of power spectrum analysis program and the overall system performance test. The test results show that the design successfully realized the data transmission between FPGA and ARM and accurately identify multiple targets.
