Virtual endoscopy is the use of medical imaging as raw data, it through virtualreality, computer graphics, digital image processing technology to realistically simulatethe traditional endoscope examination. In virtual environment, users can completelyimmerse in the system, and you can use virtual tools to change the state of the object.Comparing with conventional endoscopes, virtual endoscope has the advantage ofnoninvasive, economy, without perforation and infection risk, high sensitivity, it canexplore to areas which the traditional endoscope unable to achieve. In addition, virtualendoscopy can also be used in computer assisted instruction, assisted diagnosis, and toachieve precise positioning of surgery and surgical navigation and so on. Therefore, thevirtual endoscopy has great value in clinical application.This thesis focuses on several key technology of the virtual endoscopy system toresearch and exploration. Firstly, it has analyzed the advantages and disadvantages ofthe current image segmentation algorithm and the applicable conditions, according tothe characteristics of CT images, choosing the threshold segmentation method. Thenusing the extracted information on the3D reconstruction, this paper briefly introducessome commonly used surface rendering algorithm, and has detailed process of the MCalgorithm and its algorithm carried out a detailed analysis. Second, on virtual roaming,the paper has discussed the several methods of roaming, deeply researched the virtualcamera model, realized the manual roaming by control camera model. And the centerpath’s characteristics and definitions have summarized, it has studied the extracting pathextraction technology and has compared the advantages and disadvantages. onautomatic roaming, it also has researched and outlook deeply in automatic roaming.
