With the development of computer technology and the changes of schools’ requirementsin different stages, various functional departments in the process of building digitalcampus has established multiple application systems successively. However, informationsharing and exchanging cannot exist within these systems, which has brought a lot ofobstacles to the communication and collaboration between various departments. Therefore,it is significant and practical to solve the problem of data integration under thiscircumstance of retaining the original system architecture effectively.In the analysis of relevant data integration technology on the basis of the characteristicsof the campus information technology in China, a solution to data integration of theETL-based data conversion and Web Services-based service call is designed, as well as themodule structure in two patterns. In the pattern of ETL, a detailed process of extractingdata to the final loading data center is proposed, according to the chosen data integrationstrategy; while in the pattern of Web Services, a strategy of obtaining data through thecalls of the unified interface that provided by the service bus is designed, and a structureof the Web services bus is also proposed.Two modules of data extraction and data conversion on the ETL-based data integrationare achieved according to the design scheme. For extraction module, three ways of dataextraction are implemented, including the whole amount, the incremental by trigger andthe incremental by procedures, based on the different characteristics of the data source andthe requirements of integrated application; while for conversion module, data cleaning,transformation and loading are implemented by data exchange platform. Moreover, theimplementation process of data integration by service call is designed in the pattern ofWeb Services, and three modules on Web Services Bus, involving service registration,service releases and service call, are implemented on the basis of the mule which is anopen source messaging framework. Besides, applications of integrated data take theexample of teachers’ role in the part of presentation, displaying data with statisticalstatements or graphs via the Fusion Charts component. The design above has already beenapplied in reality, achieving its expected effect.
