From the first proposed information technology to now, computer technology hasmade great development. Practicality and convenience of the information technologymake it applied to social society and every walk of life. In1970s, X-ray computedtomography, which causes medical imaging technology to undergo a qualitative leap,came out. During this period, there has a rapid development in medical imagingequipment.Due to the equipment, it has only one or several images to a check-up for theearlier patients. As these images cannot contain all the lesion regions, the doctors cannotgive a good diagnose for the patient according to the images. With the improvement ofimaging technology, we can produce ten of thousands images at one time and theoverall lesion information and environmental information of imaging contained in theseimages. This is absolutely a gospel for doctor’s diagnosis and is also a trouble forreading images. There still exists many differences between images, because theseimages come from different companies. And this problem makes it impossible to go ona mutual application and exchange between various systems. DICOM StandardsCommittee has proposed a set of new information objects, which are called enhancedinformation objects, from2000s for the convenience storage of multi-frame images andmade it general-purpose between different equipments and systems. The new proposedenhanced information objects has abandoned the former inside structure and used a newE-R model which introduces the concept of multi-frame multi-dimension. It adoptsmacro definitions and some of the new mechanism for a better organization andmanagement of the multi-frame images.We first introduced the properties of enhanced information objects and clearlyanalyzed its inside structure. The enhanced information objects adopts a new E-R modelwhich highlights the multi-frame and multi-dimension feature compared with theoriginal E-R model. The new model introduces series mechanism which makes it veryconvenient for the operation and management of large file set. It uses multi-framefunctional groups to organize and manage multi-frame images, and puts the relatedinformation together in the concept of macro. The new model gives a lot of importancefor the environmental information of imaging equipment.Based on the characteristics of new objects and the definitions of the DICOMstandards, we designed and implemented a enhanced information objects browser software that can have a browsing play for the object, multi-frame display andinformation collect on the platform of Microsoft Visual Studio2010and open-sourcepackage DCMTK(DICOM TOOLKIT). It gives great convenience for the doctor’soperation and diagnosis. As our software is object-oriented and modularized, it has ahigh value of applications and good scalability.
