Video surveillance system is showing rapid progress currently. Ingeneral, most of video surveillance network consists of camera, video diskrecorder and video cassette, which takes advantage of stability and reliability.However, in some special spots, such as unattended storage, broad-scaleforest and transports with high speed, it would be difficult to make adistinction of responsibility when accident happenes, because the time periodis transient.As a result, the paper provides one cyclic recording method based onembedded Linux operating system. Besides that, intelligent detection andautomatic starting video surveillance system is also important. The paperprovides two detective modes: one is achieving the signal from infraredsensor and the other is picture motion detection by frame differencingalgorithm. These two modes both can achieve the goals.Firstly, we completed Linux operating system porting based on AT91SAM9G20target board and then finished the driver design offramebuffer device, touch screen device and USB camera device. After thatwe accomplished WEB server porting in terminal and realized thesefunctions as video data acquisition, compression, store and playback. Anycomputer can access to WEB server through IP address and then achievecontrol authority by SQLite database check. The legal user can remotemonitor and download video data. Futhermore, the mobile phone also canoperate multi-servers concurrently by J2ME client software.The surveillance system is low-cost with high performance andconvenient to install in any place. No matter when and where you are, youcan easily access to the server and operate it. In addition, the paper providesinvading detection and cyclic video recording, which meet the requirmentsthat unmanned surveillance and unlimited by disk space, and assure users theintegrity and timeliness of video data.
