Judging from the current situation, as an emerging industry, marine engineeringequipment manufacturing industry is another important developing direction of China’seconomic growth with a broad prospect for development. China’s “12thFive-Year-Plan” alsomakes planning for marine engineering equipment manufacturing industry as a highpriority. Progress monitoring is a key element of the project management, and it is particularlyimportant in marine engineering equipment project, due to its unique characteristics.As one of the vital works of marine engineering equipment project, the progress of electricfitting is directly related to the completion of the entire project. Through investigation andstudy, the author finds out that there is no progress monitoring system for electric fitting of themarine engineering equipment project at home and abroad. As the marine engineeringequipment project is extremely complex, there is no available theory applicable for analyzingits business process, which results in failure of efficient system analysis and design. Therefore,in order to ensure the smooth production and manufacturing of the electric fitting of themarine engineering equipment project and accelerate the informatization progress of marineengineering equipment manufacturing enterprises, this paper puts forward innovativelythe concept of critical data chain and on the basis of which it successfullydescribes the business process of electric fitting progress monitoring of the marineequipment project, and sequentially it studies the framework of system design. This papermainly covers the following content:(1) The paper researches the basic knowledge of project progress monitoring.This paperstudies the the basic concept,principles and methods of project progress monitoring.Andthis paper analyzes the existed methods do not apply to the progress monitoring of marineequipment project,and leads to the concept of the critical data chain;(2) The paper researches the status quo and problems existing in the electric fitting progressmonitoring of marine equipment project. This paper analyzes the status quo andproblems existing in the electric fitting progress monitoring of marine equipment projectfrom four aspects, namely organization, technology, process and system, and providescorresponding solutions; (3) The paper researches the concept of the critical data chain and its construction method.After defining the critical data and studying the definition of “chain”, this paper analyzesthe scientific characteristics of the critical data chain, defines its concept, and studies themethods to construct it;(4) The paper researches the business process of electric fitting progress monitoring of themarine engineering equipment project based on critical data chain. First of all, this paperanalyzes the key parameters and the relations among the parameters of the criticaldata chain of the electric fitting progress monitoring system of the marine engineeringequipment project, and then it constructs the critical data chain, provides data reportsbased on it, describes the graphical process and at last depicts the business process;(5) The paper researches the design framework of electric fitting progress monitoring systemof the marine engineering equipment project. This paper analyzes the system requirements,and then studies the management framework and the architecture framework of thissystem.
