Landslide is one of the most serious geological disaster, which causes serious threats to the people’s lives and property in the mountains, and destroy highways and oil and gas pipeline to cause a great loss and environmental damage. Therefore, the landslide monitoring has important social, economic and environmental significance. Using advanced technology to fast and effectively measure the landslide parameters realizes automatic and real-time monitoring, which is the premise and guarantee of landslide prevention.This paper puts forward landslide monitoring scheme combining ZigBee wireless sensor network technology with beidou satellite. The ZigBee wireless sensor network collect landslide parameters, and beidou satellite navigation system transmits data to the remote monitoring center. The monitoring center can transmit control command to field testing system through the beidou system. The control software in monitoring center will store the collected data in the database. It can judge the current state of the landslide by analysing and processing the data, The whole design realizes remote real-time landslide monitoring. In this paper the main research contents are as follows:1. First, analysing the influence factors of landslide stability, the key principal parameters that initiate the rainfall induced landslides are rainfall, pore pressure, moisture, vibrations, tilt. The appropriate sensors are chose to test these parameters. A WP (wireless probe) was devised to deploy these many sensors as a stack. This apparatus, including sensors, the data acquisition board and the wireless sensor node, is conjunctly termed a wireless probe (WP).2. In order to guarantee the authenticity and accuracy of landslide monitoring, choosing the right monitoring points in monitoring area is essential. This current deployment incorporates both the Matrix Approach and the Vulnerability Index Approach to guarantee the reliability of the landslide monitoring data.3. This paper developed the wireless sensor network node for landslide monitoring, including sensor nodes and gateway node, to complete real-time data collection and transmission of landslide parameters. Using the communication function of beidou satellite navigation system, the data is sent to the remote monitoring center.4. The software is written using VS2008. It read the beidou packet and calibrate it, then storage the data in SQL server database. It complete the interface of the monitoring center, to inquire the value of landslide parameters conveniently, observe the historical changes of the landslide parameters, and analyze the data to judge the current state of the landslide and forecast landslide.To sum up, this design provides the foundation for the actual application of landslide monitoring system based on ZigBee wireless sensor technology, and provides an effective new idea for advancing the informatization, automation and intelligence of landslide monitoring in our country.
