Drug addiction, also called drug abuse, is a disorder that is characterized by a destructive pattern of using a substance that leads to significant problems or distress. June,2012the national anti-drug committee published the report of drug control in China of2011. The report indicates that there are1.545million drug addicts on record, and the number of new drug addicts is214thousands. Drug addiction is a special problem in hygiene defense system, because of the public learn about the destructive influence of drug abuse depends on mass media, instead of directly contact with drug addicts due to the characters of drug addiction. The images of drug addicts in viewers’ minds are influenced by how the mass media construct the issue. In order to help the public to build the concept of drug harm to health, lead the public to recognize the drug addicts correctly, and make the public take right actions to this situation, the media should present the problems of drug abuse and drug addicts to the public objectively.This article discusses about whether the media in our country effectively realize the functions of preventing disease and protecting the public health. And the article pays much attention to how the mass media present the relative problems, analyzes the advantages and disadvantages of media playing a role in anti-drug, and advises the media to take right action to help the development of health communication project. This research includes content analysis and text analysis about the object of CCTV.The research indicates that the media make some mistakes when they present the problem of drug abuse as follows. First, emphasizing some messages but ignoring the others leads the public to consider the drug addicts as a law breaker instead a patient. Second, the media ignores the importance of propagation work on anti-drug. Third, the news about interview with a drug addict is rare. Fourth, the frequency of CCTV reporting the news about drug on International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is higher than any rest time. But the research notices that the propagation work on health become better these years. After all, discussions and advises in this article are useful and constructive.
