The mobile Internet is one of the current hot topics and will last for a long period oftime. With the rapid development of a variety of mobile devices and telecommunicationsindustry, we entered the era of mobile Internet unconsciously. The functions of traditionalInternet will be slowly transferred to the mobile Internet. This process will give birth toplenty of Internet applications on every mobile platform.This paper focuses on the design of Internet applications on the mobile platform withthe great growth of mobile Internet. With the full analysis of the characteristics of Androidplatform and the basic characteristics of the REST-style services. It aims to put forwardideas and methods of the Android platform in the design and development of clientsoftware based on the REST-style services. On the basis of summarizing the existingsoftware then take full advantage of the characteristics of the system components of theAndroid platform like Activity, Service, and Content Provider to build some commondesign patterns. By reading this article may provide strong help for the design anddevelopment of such applications. And it helps developers clarify how to design efficientand stable REST client software.On this basis, according to one of the model, design and development a sampleapplication called “Weibo Tracker”. The work is to demonstrate the design patterns areuseful. The main function of the sample application is sending Weibo updatesautomatically when the pre-defined event is triggered. The innovative application has thecurrently most popular element called “SoLoMo” in mobile Internet. It reflects the socialelement by using Weibo’s rich REST API, reflects mobile element with the mobileterminals, and reflects location element with Android location service. The design conceptis for sharing all activities of Android device. I believe Weibo enthusiasts can use it tosatisfy the ultimate desire of their own information-sharing.
