In the3GPP R99and R4version, the core network is still the traditional tree network structure, where an RNC can only be controlled by one core network node, such as MSC-Server. If failure of the core network node occurs, the RNC can’t work properly. To solve this problem,3GPP R5(3GPP TS23.236) version provides pool-group working mechanism for the core network, breaking the previous one-to-one relationship between BSC (RNC) and MSS.In order to solve the problem of the rapid registration of target MSC and overcome the uncertainty of SERVER registration in pool group, this thesis proposes a new method of registration based on the mechanism of NNSF where this method modifies NRI IN TMSI storied in phone memory to target MSC NRI, makes use of the network authentication principle which judges the failure of the first registration of target MSC, and then issues a legal TMSI of target MSC to help mobile phones complete a second registration, so that we can reach the purpose of the registration of target MSC. When this method is applied to MSC Pool, registration time is reduced from original30-60minutes to1minute (5-6MSC as an example).Despite enhanced core network security, MSC POOL still has some shortcomings, especially when one server in POOL doesn’t work, mobile phones registered in this SERVER will not be called unless it reaches the update of the next location. To overcome these shortcomings, a rapid called scheme by wiping location data or clearing up user data in HLR is proposed.
