The data acquisition is an important part of the communication and processing ofunderwater acoustic signal, which can complete the signal test from the various parts of thesubsystem of the underwater acoustic systems. A good performance, easy-to-use datacollection device will be conducive to the successful completion of the test of the underwateracoustic systems.The data acquisition system based on the PCI bus architecture is designed and achievedfrom the idea of "virtual instrument", based on the adequate computer hardware and softwareresources. The completed data acquisition system in this thesis, of which the samplingfrequency is up to625kHz, can meet the data acquisition sampling rate which is needed in allthe possible acoustic equipment. The data acquisition system can be realized up to eightchannels of parallel sampling, which is precision sampling, lower electrical noise, real timeacquisition, and easy manipulation.PCI bus is used to communicate and transport data between the acquisition system andthe host computer, so the data transfer rate is fast and stable.With PCI bus, the acquisitionsystem is guaranteed to achieve multi-channel, high sampling rate, real-time data acquisition.The structure of the acquisition system mainly consists of three parts: the PCI acquisitionboard, PCI acquisition board’s driver code under the Windows operating system andacquisition system interface to display and control.Among them, the AD data acquisition is communicated with PCI bus interface by thePCI acquisition board. With the high sampling rate and sampling precision, low self-noise,Chip AD7763is used in AD data acquisition, which is very suitable for the data acquisition ofthe underwater acoustic signal. Chip PCI9054is used in the PCI bus interface communication,which contains the DMA data transfer function that is very suitable for the collection system.The PCI acquisition boards is controlled to implement the local logic by FPGA, whichcompletes the interface controlling between AD7763and PCI9054and the access controllingof the FIFO data cache. EP3C25from the Altera Corporation is selected in the FPGA circuitwith its high cost-effective, abundant logic resources, sufficient I/O port and internal storageunit. They can meet the needs of the PCI data acquisition boards.In addition, the driver code of the PCI acquisition board is achieved with the WDMdriver under the Windows operating system. It meets the Plug and Play for the PCI dataacquisition boards. The PCI data acquisition board is communicated with computer through interrupt and response. The acquisition system display and control interface is achieved withthe use of the Labview which is beautiful, friendly and convenient to collect the data.The stability testing, the frequency and amplitude accuracy testing and the conformancetesting of each channel are tested for the performance of the acquisition system. Finally, abetter performance is shown by the test results.
